Wilsons fame surpassed that of the United States during 2014, when she landed a role as a character on Showtimes The Affair. In this show, Wilson played Alison Lockhart who is a young woman who is troubled and comes who comes from a rough background. Lockhart falls for the love of her life, Noah Solloway. Wilson received a Golden Globe in 2015 for Best Actress, Television Series Drama. The show also featured Maura Terney as well as Joshua Jackson. Wilson in an interview with British Vogue earlier in the year told British Vogue that she loved acting in two distinct viewpoints. Noah imagines Alison's confident, unresponsible side of sexiness. However, she perceives herself differently, as someone who is timid and unattractive in the real world. The actress added "I consider that America is a moral society and too judgmental. The way they conduct themselves on the show is shocking." Wilson was the one who quit The Simpsons in 2018 did not provide any details. In an interview in August of 2018 with CBS This Morning, Wilson stated that she did wish to leave the show but did not have the right to talk about what the reason was. Wilson has been working in the film industry more recently. Wilson was a part of the horror film I Am the Pretty Thing Living in the House in 2016, and she played the cryptic PT Stella as the Sci-Fi romantic comedy How to Talk to Girls at Parties. Wilson will add another film of horror to her credits when she appears in the British adaptation of The Little Stranger, a supernatural thriller based on the novel by Sarah Waters. Wilson executive produces the movie.
